We have been approached by Telus to comment on the recent addition of PureFibre to our neighbourhood. This build was undertaken with financial support from the Innovation, Science and Economic Development (ISED) Canada’s Universal Broadband Fund intended to increase rural connectivity across Canada.
The federal government is looking to better understand and document the impacts of their funding stream.
They have asked that Telus work in partnership with them to collect testimonials and stories that share the difference that high speed internet has brought to rural communities. The testimonials and stories are intended to help drive the ongoing supports needed to increase rural connectivity nation-wide.
Your submission will help support other communities to also see the benefit of this funding stream. We are hoping that you will be willing to provide the following:
1. A testimonial that speaks to the benefit of enhanced connectivity for these communities in your area.
2. If you have community members, friends, family or other colleagues who can speak to the project and its benefits, Telus would also appreciate a testimonial from them, or for them to share their story with Telus.
3. Telus is looking for community-centric stories that demonstrate the economic growth, health, and social connectivity possibilities that resulted from the build. Examples of the type of stories they are looking for can be found on the Telus website
The information provided will be shared with the funding Ministry, with the potential that it may be shared out on their website or social channels. Opportunity may also be created to connect with the Minister to share personally the challenges and benefits of bringing high speed internet to communities like yours.
